Today I have the great pleasure in introducing you to one of my best friends, Alex Taylor.
Alex studied Fashion, Photographic and Media Make-up at The London School of Beauty and Make-up and since then her talent has taken her on to do big things in the world of make-up. Alex has a natural flair for wedding make-up and makes every bride look and feel truly beautiful on the most important day of their lives. On today’s post Alex shares with us her hints and tips for brides-to-be pondering over who will do their wedding make-up…
1. When did you become a make-up artist and what attracted you to wedding make-up in particular?
I became a make-up artist just over 3 years ago. Wedding make-up is a great way for us MUA’s to do what we love to do best..make people feel special and beautiful! There is no better feeling than being part of someone’s big day and following them on that journey :-)
2. How will a bride know if a wedding makeup artist is right for her?
I personally think you will instantly know if you have picked the right MUA for your day. From the trial you will not only see what her skills are like but you will also see if she is someone you gel with..don’t forget they will be there in your personal space on the morning of your big day!
3. Whats your advice for bride’s planning on doing their own make-up?
My advise if you are doing your own wedding make-up is to either book a lesson in with an MUA (funds permitting), or watch some good old YouTube tutorials..plenty on there to help you.
4. Is it essential for a bride and her wedding party to have a make-up trial?
It is essential to have a trial for your wedding make-up for two reasons. Firstly, you want to practice the look with plenty of time to discuss/change the look before the big day. Secondly, to check you don’t react to any products they will use.I normally say have a trial 2/3 months before. Worst case scenario you could have an unknown allergic reaction to one of the products..better you don’t find that out on the biggest day of your life!
5. What are your 3 top tips for prepping the skin prior to the wedding?
Before the big day I always say to drink loadssss of water! H2O is the best skin care in the world! Have a facial BUT only if you have had one before from the same person/products..again you don’t want to react to anything. Lastly, moisturise! Keep a good skincare routine leading up to your day. Remove your make-up properly every night and apply a good hydrating moisturiser!
Thanks to Alex for taking the time to share your hints and tips with us and of course your beautiful brides!
